Math FLash

Cancelled

Feel free to use this information to challenge your children.

This is the Math Flash information used by TEACH for the past several years.
Please visit this page frequently for any additional information relating to the Math Flash.

The activities will consist of timed addition and multiplication fact drills -- either oral (flash cards) or written at different levels of difficulty.  The levels of difficulty are determined by the student’s age.  The older the student the less time is allowed for completing the facts!  There will be something for everyone.

Level 1 of the addition drill will include 50 facts with sums no greater than ten.
Level 2 of the addition drill will include 100 facts with sums no great than twenty.
Level 1 of the multiplication drill will include 50 facts up to 5 x 5.
Level 2 of the multiplication drill will include 100 facts up to 10 x 10.
Level 3, the most advanced drill, will include 40 problems where knowledge of math facts must be applied (a combination of division, multiplication, addition, subtraction).

Students will compete against a pre-set standard – not against one another.  For example, if you register your 6-year-old daughter and 10-year-old boy for Level 1 Addition: your daughter will have 4 minutes to complete her facts and your son will have 2 minutes!

Ribbons will be awarded to each participant soon after each event of the Math Flash (this will eliminate the distribution of all ribbons when Math Flash is completed -- the ribbons will be distributed at the end of each event without announcement of names or achievement), and detailed certificates will be awarded at the TEACH Awards Night in May.

Interspersed and subsequent to the math drills, the students will participate in a fun time of math games, activities, worksheets and fellowship.  All participants are asked to bring a snack or drink to share with all participants.
