Certified Teachers The following are qualified individuals who are a part of our TEACH group or who have recommended someone that they have used for their assessments.
I have homeschooled four children for twenty-two years and am a
certified teacher in Ohio with a B.A. from Adelphi University. I am a
licensed substitute teacher as well. I have provided Iowa testing for
homeschoolers for thirteen years and portfolio evaluations for four years.
Currently, I work part-time at the main branch of the Warren-Trumbull
County Public Library.
Our oldest homeschooled son , age 28, is a Geneva College grad who
is a systems analyst for University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Our second
son, age 26, is a Kent State University Air Force ROTC grad and now an
active duty officer at Langley Air Force base in Virginia. Our third
homeschooled student, age 23, who also attended TCTC part-time, graduated
from the Cleveland Institute of Dental and Medical Assistants and is a
part-time dental assistant for Drs. Davenport and Rohrabaugh in Cortland.
She is also a student at Kent State University with a major in Physical
Therapy Assistant Technology. Our youngest(16) is now a sophomore at
Bloomfield High School. He was a sprinter on the track team and is on the
Bloomfield soccer team. He also plays the drums for our church's worship
team. The oldest three were homeschooled through high school, and the
youngest wanted the academic and athletic challenges of school. It was hard
for me to allow him to go, and there were some difficult days at first, but
he has risen to the challenges before him and made the honor roll for the
full second semester. (Whew!)
My goals when reviewing portfolios are to assure that the student
is performing to his/ her ability level, whatever that might be in
individual areas of study. Also, I seek to encourage moms as they tackle
their particular educational and/or life challenges.
Homeschoolers are some of the finest people anywhere. Homeschooling
works! There is no government or community program that can substiture for
wise, caring, moms or dads. Thanks for sharing your children's educational
journeys with me. I have learned so much from you all!

I am a Certified Teacher (and for years I was a member of TEACH). I usually do between 5-10 narrative assessments per year. I would be glad to help if able. I usually charge $25 for a family with 1 or 2 children and $5 for each additional child. The best way to reach me is through e-mail: Katherine H. ScoutLady55@aol.com A TEACH Member recommends: Sue Hartman who has done her family's assessments for the last few years. She is great to work with and is willing to take on new families. Her phone number is 330-629-6070. She does assessments from June to August and charges $25 per child.
